| This year, 2007,
the Parade of a Thousand Polleras, "Desfile de las Mil Polleras",
was held on April 29, 2007. As always, the polleras
were beautiful and the tembleques stunning.
For a little background on the parade, see the write-up by Art Mokray on
the parade of 2004.
Allan Hawkins has taken some beautiful photos of this year's parade that
he wants to share but please know that these are not in the public
domain.
As you will notice
from these photos, there are the traditional polleras as well as it's different
"forms", and other native costumes from other countries. The tembleques
are quite beautiful and come in many colors. The men, too, are sharply
dressed, including their hats and shoes. You will find more information
on polleras and tembleques if you follow the links in the previous paragraph.
You will also find many more photos of polleras and tembleques if you follow
the links, as I am rather crazy about them. I hope you will enjoy
these photos as I have. I have left them in a more viewable size
so those will slower modems may have to be patient when they are downloading.
While I could have made them a smaller size, and a quicker download I felt
that they would be less enjoyable to see. Many thanks to Allan for
his generosity in "loaning" me these photos to put on my website.
