Given its privileged geographical position and one of the best airports in the region, Panama is not far from anywhere, with the presence of major worldwide airlines that connect it to the world. With this new convention center, the country aspires to become one of the best venues for these types of gatherings.
With an avant-garde design and modern interior design as well as advanced technology to hold seminars and conferences, it is profiled as a convention hub that will boost Panamanian economy.
The Panama Convention Center is considered the largest in the region and has all the potential to become a reference in these types of buildings in the world. The project, which required an investment of almost 200 million dollars, is located close to the entrance to the Panama Canal as well as near the Bio Museum.
The total area of construction is equivalent to 60,000 square meters, composed of three buildings that communicate through covered air-conditioned passageways. It is expected that the Panama Convention Center will be ready by mid 2020 allowing for events of great magnitude to take place.
Nevertheless, certain concerts and other large events are already happening within the Panama Convention Center. For example, Cirque du Soleil held its Ovo presentation there in November 2019 and bands such as Reo Speed Wagon have also had concerts there. Additionally, popular artists such as Argentinian singer and actor Tini Stoessel and Colombian singer Sebastian Yatra have also presented at the convention center.
Exhibition area
The exhibition area in the Panama Convention Center is 30,000 square meters and it is estimated to hold 25,000 visitors. In its style, it will be the biggest convention center in Central America.
This area can be divided into three sections, each one with its separate systems. Likewise, the central area of the exhibition zone has a location that was designed to celebrate different types of events.
Another characteristic is that is has at least six meeting rooms that will be able to be used independently but can also be joined to form two vast halls.
Honorary mention must be made for the banquet area with over 4,000 square meters. It can also be divided into three independent spaces, depending on the size of each particular event.
Areas
The parking capacity is a little over 700 open parking spots, 200 covered parking spots, and 18 spots assigned exclusively for buses. It also holds different management and resting areas, loading docks for different types of merchandise, and a great central lobby.
Multiple events
One of the most impressive characteristics of the Panama Convention Center is its capacity to host different events independently. The estimates indicate that the total structure will be able to hold 32,000 people at a time.
Amongst the objectives of the Panama Convention Center management team is to organize hundreds of events during its first year of operation, distributed between corporate conferences and other activities.
