There are several reasons, but this time we wanted to let others be the ones to tell you about their life in Buenaventura. As visitors or as residents one thing is clear, everything is done to be able to enjoy and create unforgettable moments.
“We decided to visit Panama because it was a destination we have never been to. We found out about Buenaventura through a live auction. We purchased the item at a Ducks Unlimited event. Item… (Week long stay in Buenaventura)
Buenaventura was beautiful. We loved the amenities like golf, shopping, beaches and pools at the resorts to the marina with the jet skis and offshore fishing. We really loved the day out on the water with Buddy on his Sport fishing boat and the jet skis. Both supplies by Luxury Watersports.
I’d recommend the Buenaventura area to friends if they have never visited Panama and want to experience a luxury style of living in a tropical environment.
We did visit the town inside the volcano which is a close drive to Buenaventura. I’d suggest that if no one has ever been. The ride up and back is like riding on a roller coaster. If your ever in the area look up my friends at Luxury Watersports, they will treat you right and make sure you have a great time.
Thanks again for everything”.

Like Shane, there are hundreds of people who choose Buenaventura to spend time or to live. Beyond all the luxury amenities – which are undoubtedly part of the charm – time and freedom are transformed into qualities that take on another connotation here.
We gathered some of those stories from people who told us about their experience in Buenaventura.
“Here you can spend time with your children, work, exercise and enjoy with your friends”
Alejandra Robleto came to the country for work a few years ago. Born in Nicaragua, she went to Washington DC to study and then she took a job opportunity in the country. Once in Panama, she married and started a family. Although she is a fan of the beach, Buenaventura has always been a social destination. It was during the pandemic that her perspective changed.
“After spending time in the El Valle -a mountain area an hour away from Buenaventura-, we rented and stayed a week and well, the truth is that we loved it,” Alejandra recalls before continuing.
“The children were very comfortable and very happy. We extended our stay until we decided to move here to Buenaventura, taking advantage of, for example, that a school was opening. I feel that there is no other place, neither in the city nor in the country, where children can go cycling and enjoy a safe lifestyle ”.
After the pandemic, Alejandra and her family returned to the city but returned frequently to Buenaventura. “What I miss the most is being able to go to work and also being one step away from the tennis courts and how easy it is to have everything within a community,” she points out.
The pandemic left several lessons. One of them is to stop thinking of the city as that place where everything happens. “What I really like, and it’s very comfortable, is that you have everything there. You have restaurants, a Deli, Felipe Motta. And if you need something else, you have the Super 99 out there or another supermarket nearby ”.
Finally, for her, a frequent user of the Sports Club, the community spirit is one of the things she likes the most. Not only did she take classes with the teachers, but “we kept in touch with people we met through the sport. That is incredible. You always find someone available to play a match.”
“This is the best place to raise our children”
Juan Pablo Aguilera arrived in Panama from Venezuela a few years ago. He and his wife left the city to move to the interior for a job opportunity. And he couldn’t be happier with his decision. “My daughter is growing up in a different environment, healthier, freer, without pollution, without traffic.”
And he has a very particular vision about adapting to this life. Especially for those who see the city as that place that has it all. “Undoubtedly for a person who is used to the city, it can be a shock. But if you think about it, here you also have everything. A cinema 20 minutes away, several restaurants, medical services and markets. The distances are longer? Yes. But you don’t spend more than 30 minutes getting there. So in the end one thing makes up for another and what my wife says: the tranquility that living in this area gives you is unique.”
This is how they picture their life in the interior enjoying the moments of raising their daughter. “In the city, parents, due to the distances, hardly have time to share with their children. We do. Being home in two minutes and sharing with her is something insurmountable. It is important to us as a family ”
“Never to this day has it crossed my mind to go back”
Adrian Sánchez arrived from Spain through adventure and despite returning, he was left with a desire to return to Panama. And so it happened. At the time the then-lawyer left his land to settle here.
“He didn’t have high aspirations at first. My wish was to be here and then suddenly it was easier. I was willing to put in the work, that is, I didn’t want to go back. I was going to do whatever it took to stay here because I wanted to be in Panama. “
He completed his immigration paperwork quickly and began his new life. He left law and found his new workspace in tourism, gastronomy, and luxury experiences. For work, he came to Buenaventura, and here he lives happily.
“I really like fishing. Whenever I can and it’s easy, I go fishing. I also bought a kayak and every time I want to, I go out to enjoy the sea. Here you have freedom and security that you cannot find in the city. It is redefining what quality of life means. There is no traffic, the nights are really starry, it is surrounded by nature and above all, safe. You appreciate life as it is ”.
“Buenaventura has all the comforts to feel relaxed and carefree”
Gonzalo Gutiérrez is a recurring user of Buenaventura Rentals, Buenaventura’s rental program that allows people to schedule short and long-term stays with us.
And if there is something that he enjoys, it is the attention that the team gives him and the support that helps him find the space for his family. Gonzalo even calls the team directly to coordinate everything.
“Rebeka, we’re going, what have you got? What do you have from such this date for so many people? She will send you options. She tells you if it is possible or not. She is looking for the best price for any special request. She has even coordinated the trip with three other families so that we can all spend a good time together ”, recalls Gonzalo.
Because as our guest says “Buenaventura, in addition to the amenities, is a quiet and safe place. Besides, it is not just a beach. We have a family of three children and one day we go to the park, another day we go to the stables to see the horses, another day we go to the zoo, another day to the swimming pools, another day to the beach. You will always find something to do.”
