Created by the prestigious firm Nicklaus Design, the Buenaventura Golf Course has hosted countless national and international tournaments, including as a stop on the PGA Tour of Latin America.
This 18-hole course with a total measurement of 7,324 yards and a par 72 was developed based on a series of requirements that sought, above all, to respect the environment in which Buenaventura was developing.
It is definitely a unique place in the beach area. This plus the facilities and the attention of the staff transform it into that space to which players always want to return.
We asked expat members of the club what did they think of it and these were the testimonies they gave us.
Melissa Turgeon
“I have been here for 5 years and I must say that this is the best course in Panama; I come back every time I can. The tournaments here are phenomenal and the conditions are always beautiful. It’s a good family place, but even better, it’s a great community.
The staff take care of you and make you feel special. And the course…it’s a great course. It is long, and challenging and people from all over the world come to play here because of the reputation it has earned. It’s a fun environment to be in.”

“I have been a member of the club for a year and both the course and the practice range are in extraordinary condition. The staff is very friendly. When I walked in I didn’t know anyone and I didn’t know what to expect. Here I have met people with whom I can play on a regular basis.
What I like the most is being able to share with more people and the tournaments I have played have been incredible. It’s definitely a great place.”

“The foreigners and the people who are here are friends. The facilities are fantastic. The beauty of all holes. The course management is open and they always make us feel welcome which is a real pleasure. In the end, we are all friends on a golf course where it is really nice to be. While for her, who is just starting out, coming here is relaxing. Listening to the birds is sometimes a nice distraction when you’re practicing and trying to improve your game. At first, I took this more as a social activity but over time I am enjoying golf much more. The clinics, the people who teach you, the Women Expat League; I have made many friends and I have had much more fun than I expected.

“We became members of Buenaventura because the course is much better than the other courses in the beach area. We were members of the other two courses for more than five years. In Canada, we are used to having public courses, where the conditions are of a lower level, and private ones, which are extremely well cared for. That’s Buenaventura. The maintenance of the fairways, the quality of the service, and one of the big differences is this package that they created for foreigners. By being members here, our entire group of friends can be members, which did not happen in other clubs. Here we have many Canadian and American friends with whom to play every week.” She also adds, “we have made many friends and Buenaventura is by far the best golf course in the beach area. The community has grown and every day there are more members. It’s a lot of fun because there are many tournaments with good prizes and the best thing is that there is always something going on here. This is what makes it a destination where you want to spend the whole day.”
