Tourism is one of the most important development pillars for Panama. With a variety of destinations, the country has positioned itself as a place where visitors can have great experiences.
In this scenario, the great news is one that contributes to the transformation of the country as the gateway to the Central American and Caribbean regions.
A few days ago it was confirmed that after nine years, the cruise company Royal Caribbean returns with a route based in Panama using Colon as its main port.
The selected cruise ship will be the Rhapsody of the Seas, with a maximum capacity of 2,400 passengers, whose itinerary will include Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao (Netherlands), and Cartagena (Colombia) and will be operating between December 2023 and April 2024.
On the other hand, the Canadian airline, Air Transat, has already begun flights to the Scarlett Martínez Airport in Río Hato in the province of Coclé from Montreal and Toronto.
Air Transat is Canada’s leading vacation airline, flying to over 60 international destinations in more than 25 countries in the Americas and Europe, carrying some 5 million passengers each year.
Coclé, part of the well-known Panamanian Pacific Riviera, the coastal area starting in Punta Chame, traveling through West Panama, all the way to Farallón, in Río Hato, is an area in high demand by tourists who are looking for sun, beach, nature, and marine and nautical activities.
It is also one of the priority destinations of the Sustainable Tourism Master Plan (PMTS 2020-2025), which is currently being executed by the Ministry. It includes eight regions with tourism potential and seeks to impact the communities in the area.
